DPA Microphones is a Danish manufacturer of microphones for professional and consumer markets. DPA conducted a workshop along with their team at the Audio Academy campus. This was the first workshop of its kind in collaboration with Ansata Computer Systems. The workshop was conducted by Bo Brinck where he showcased their entire range of microphones and and explained their functioning. Through this hands on workshop, students participated in experiments focussed on getting to know their microphones. Zeroing -in on various placement possibilities on people & instruments, were integral parts of the workshop. Students were exposed to the sonic differences in placements and got a clear understanding of the pros & cons of omni vs directional microphones. Through this workshop, Brinck also discussed transparency in the audio chain and the importance of linearity in the frequency response on & off axis. He was accompanied by Neil Lean, the Product Specialist from Ansata and Steen Tychsen the sales manager for DPA microphones.
